Department of Music

The Valdosta State University Department of Music is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, with a faculty of 30 artist teachers and over 160 music majors. The Department of Music presents over 200 musical performances for the public each year. In addition, several of the major performing ensembles of the department travel throughout Georgia, the Southeast, and abroad; performing for schools, civic groups, and as part of community concert series.

The faculty of the Department of Music are active performers, scholars, conductors, clinicians, and adjudicators throughout the region. The department offers a full range of instrumental and vocal performing ensembles, including the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. Membership in ensembles is open to all VSU students.

The Department of Music is pleased to announce students graduating from High Schools in Alabama, Florida and South Carolina are eligible for in-state tuition at Valdosta State University.

The Department of Music is pleased to welcome Dr. Jesse Cook to our faculty as our new Assistant Professor of Trumpet.  Dr. Cook will be performing with the VSO in April for the Mahler 5 performance and here full-time in July.  Welcome Dr. Cook  

The Department of Music is pleased to welcome Dr. Stephanie Neeman who will begin this fall as the new Assistant Professor of Piano at Valdosta State University. She will teach piano and coordinate all piano pedagogy and class piano for VSU.
