Welcome to Applied Mathematics and Physics
The Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics offers programs that are designed to give the student the knowledge, skills, and values that build upon their academic foundation to ensure they are meeting the requirements for their professional careers in a STEM discipline like math or physics. The requirements of all the programs have been designed in keeping with national norms of excellence. Applied Mathematics is the use of powerful mathematical theory to solve complex real-world problems. Physics is the foundation science which deals with space, time, matter, energy, gravitation, electromagnetism, light, atoms, nuclei, and the fundamental forces of the universe. Astronomy is the science that deals with the origin, evolution, position, motion, and nature of all the bodies in the observable universe, including the Sun, planets, moons, stars, nebulae, and galaxies.
