The Educational Talent Search (ETS) program at Valdosta State University is federally funded through the United States Department of Education under the Federal TRIO Programs. This program serves to identify and provide services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The ETS program aims to assist individuals from low-income homes and first-generation college students to progress through middle school on to college. ETS will support students by providing individual and group counseling sessions, cultural enrichment, self-awareness assessments, academic skills, career and college exploration, postsecondary school tours, curricular choices, financial aid assistance, and re-entry services for dropouts.

The ETS program currently serves 500 youth in the Valdosta City and Brooks County School System. Two-thirds of the 500 are low-income and potential first-generation college students.
