The staff in the Office of Professional Education Services (PES) fulfill a variety of support roles in the college related to educator preparation and accreditation, and we work regularly with both internal and external stakeholders to accomplish these goals. We work with school districts across the country to place our students in education settings with a high-quality mentor teacher and provide regular professional development opportunities to school systems, alumni, and teachers. In addition, we work with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) to process educator certification both for new teacher candidates and recent graduates. We also work with the GaPSC and other reporting entities to ensure we provide high-quality programs for our students that meet state and national standards. Some internal stakeholders include our faculty and staff in the university for whom we provide assessment support and admission guidance as well as other supporting roles. And, finally, we work with our students to provide them with the tools to become successful educators in our community.
