Study Abroad Scholarships 2023
Study Abroad Scholarship for Students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences will award monetary scholarships to undergraduate students who plan to study abroad in summer 2023. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program in a CoHSS department at the time of application.
Scholarships will be awarded by the CoHSS Awards Committee. The decision will be based on quantitative data such as GPA and hours earned and qualitative data such as the personal statement and letters of recommendation. Priority will go to students with no prior study abroad experience.
Applications will be due by Monday, November 7, 2022. Students will be notified, by letter or email, of the scholarship decision before the end of the fall semester.
The application should include:
- Current and complete transcript
- Banner printout is acceptable
- Personal statement (two, double-spaced pages)
- Describe the study abroad experience you wish to take
- Explain your goals for this experience
- Letter of recommendation from faculty member
- Letter should explain student’s potential for a successful study abroad experience
Applications can be delivered in person to Robin Smith in the CoHSS dean’s office (Nevins Hall 1060) or submitted to her as a .pdf file (robsmith@valdosta.edu)
