Profile

Roehampton Institute was formed in 1975 as a federation of four long-established colleges: Whitelands, Southlands, Digby Stuart and the Froebel Institute. Academic work is organized and controlled on an institute-wide basis, but the collegiate structure is still an important feature. Degree-awarding powers were gained in 1993 for all undergraduate and masters taught courses, and in 1998 for research degrees.

Location

Roehampton is situated in one of the most attractive areas of London. Richmond Park is just a ten minute stroll from the Roehampton Lane campus, and the West End is within easy reach by public transport. Roehampton provides an excellent base from which to explore the opportunities provided by a major capital city, whether it's nightlife you're after, or the limitless cultural and historical attractions on offer. You'll probably find the hardest part is deciding what you want to do. University of Surrey-Roehampton is located 6 miles from the heart of London, it is situated on two beautiful parkland campuses, very close to Richmond Park.

It has also recently acquired the Mount Clare site close by, primarily for residences, and Parkstead House, which will provide substantial academic accommodation and the potential for student accommodation Digby Stuart, Froebel and Southlands College are all located next to one another on the Roehampton Lane Campus and the Whitelands College campus is approximately two miles away. Room and Board

Students will pay room and board to the University of Surrey-Roehampton. For Roehampton Lane students; Putney, Sheen, Barnes and Roehampton are popular choices for living off campus. You will have telephone bills to pay wherever you decide to live. If you are living in an apartment you will have to contribute towards ALL household bills including gas, electricity and water. If you share with students you will not need to pay Council Tax, but you will need to obtain a Council Tax Exclusion Certificate from Registry at the University. However, if you share with non-students you could be liable for Council Tax.
