Safety Update for 4-22

At Valdosta State University, the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority at all times. In commitment to that priority, we will remain vigilant in ensuring order is maintained in our classrooms, our residence halls, and throughout our campus.

We are actively gathering information on the current situation, and continue to work closely with local law enforcement. Any action by this or any individual or group that jeopardizes the safety or disrupts the orderly operations of the university will be dealt with swiftly and justly.

Information regarding this active investigation will continue to be released immediately at both the discretion of law enforcement and the university administration in order to maintain order on campus and protect the investigation efforts of these agencies.

As our students, faculty, and staff return to campus tomorrow, VSU Police have partnered with the Valdosta Police Department to place officers from each agency on foot patrols throughout the VSU campus to ensure that academic operations may continue with minimal disturbance.

At this time, there is no indication from law enforcement that a lockdown, closure or pause in university operations is necessary. We will continue to evaluate this decision as information is provided to us.

For further information as it becomes available, please visit the VSU website at www.valdosta.edu or follow our social media for updates at facebook.com/ValdostaState and twitter.com/ValdostaState.
