Note for 2017 Auditionees: due to the nature of our season please include on resume and correspondence any instruments you play well, i.e. violin, banjo, guitar, bass, etc.

New York Auditions.  PSST! will be in New York City in early February, 2017, auditioning for principals in our upcoming season.

PLEASE SIGN UP FOR A TIME SLOT HERE  NO UNOFFICIAL LIST WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your time slot to check-in.  If all slots are filled, please arrive at 9am on the day of the audition and sign up on the alternate list. ALTERNATES WILL BE SEEN as long as time permits.
Please prepare 2 contrasting 16 bars, one should be contemporary musical theatre and the other should be traditional legit musical theatre. Bring sheet music in the correct key with cuts clearly marked. Accompanist will be provided. Please bring a headshot & resume, stapled together.
UPTA Auditions, February 3-6, 2017, Memphis, TN.

PSST! will not be in attendance at this audition, but is registering to receive the Auditionees packet

SETC Professional Auditions, March 2-4, 2017, Lexington, KY. In attendance at the professional auditions, PSST! will also be participating in SETC's Theatre Job Fair and on-site interviews for tech and front-of-house positions within the company.

Local Auditions

Local Auditions for the Peach State Summer Theatre 2017 season are scheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2017 (check in begins at 9:30 AM with an info meeting at 10 AM followed by acting/singing auditions, then a dance audition) in Sawyer Theatre of the Fine Arts Building on the campus of Valdosta State University. Please click links for more information and forms:  Local Audition Form, Directions. Please note, all audition materials (forms, headshots, and resumes) must be received 7 days in advance of the audition.

CHILDREN'S AUDITIONS: For the 2017 season, PSST! will be holding auditions for a few ensemble roles in a single show.  The role may be double cast.  Auditions for children will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 beginning at approximately 1 PM.

Children, if needed for the productions, would need to prepare a portion of a song.  They should bring their sheet music to the audition.  An accompanist will be provided. They will also be asked to read from a script.  Children should click the links in the paragraph above for information and to submit the audition form.

A mandatory briefing is scheduled for the beginning of the adults' audition and again at the beginning of the children's audition.  At this time headshots and resumes will be collected and audition numbers will be distributed.  Auditions will begin immediately following the briefing.

Auditionees are expected to present:
* a one-minute light or comic monologue
* a 30-60 second vocal selection from the musical theatre repertoire. 
The monologue and song must be memorized and should not take longer than two minutes in total.

An accompanist is provided.  Please make sure all sheet music is clearly marked. 
The use of any recorded accompaniment or a cappella singing is prohibited.

Following the singing portion of the audition all Auditionees are asked to attend a dance audition, where a short combination will be taught.  Please bring appropriate dancewear and jazz or character
shoes. The dance audition will be performed in small groups.

After the audition, Artistic Director, Jacque Wheeler and Managing Director, Duke Guthrie will be  available to answer questions.

PSST! will be auditioning performers for PRINCIPAL, ACTOR-TECH, and ENSEMBLE positions.

The Performance Company consists of..

  • One or two AEA Guest Artists.
  • A category of actors playing leads and major supporting in all 3 shows.
  • Actor/Techs who play supporting or ensemble roles in 2 shows and assist with the build and change-overs with all three shows.
  • Ensemble members who are in 2 or 3 shows as members of the ensemble, they may help run the third show, they assist with change-overs for all three shows.
