Membership

Learning in Retirement (LIR) is a university-sponsored organization within the Mary Virginia Terry Center for Experiential Learning. LIR is for individuals 50 years of age and older that provides a unique opportunity for cultural growth, lifelong learning, and recreation. Members are involved in suggesting curriculum, recruiting new members, and assisting with social programming.

LIR Lite Summer Membership - LIR Lite - is $39.

Regular Membership is $75 per term (Fall or Spring) or $135 for the year (only available in fall term). and entitles you to choose from among 60+ classes each term, most of which have no extra charge beyond your membership fee.

You may also print the LIR Lite 2026 Summer Calendar and Registration form. Online registration is also available.

You may register online, by phone, or in-person. We accept cash, checks, VISA, Mastercard, and Discover. (We do NOT accept American Express.)

Call us at 229-253-2985 or email terrycenter@valdosta.edu to request a catalog. (To receive a catalog by mail, be sure to include your mailing address in your email message.)

Donate to our LIR Scholarship Fund

Your tax deductible contribution of $75 will provide a scholarship for an individual who would like to participate but cannot afford a membership. Donations of any other amount are welcome as well, and will be used to support our programming and special events.
