University Monitoring Influenza Situation
VALDOSTA --Valdosta State University health officials and
administrators continue to monitor national, local and state
developments regarding the Swine Flu outbreak.
University officials encourage the campus community to seek
immediate medical attention if you experience “flu-like” symptoms
and avoid close contact with other people. The Center for Disease
Control (CDC) recommends the following actions to stay
healthy:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Stay home if you get sick and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Valdosta State will continue to work with local health agencies to monitor the Swine Flu situation and post updates on its main Web site at www.valdosta.edu . Additional information is available at the CDC Swine Flu web site at http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/ .
