b'Exploration of Tropical Plantsfor Bioactive PhytocompoundsDaeshe R. McCoySponsor: Dr. Tolulope SalamiNaturally occurring bioactive phytocompounds are ubiquitous in most tropical plants and many of these plants are available in large quantity.Extracts from these plants provide potential for new drug discoveries. Our research interest is in the extractions, isolation, and purification of phytocompounds from various tropical plants. The purpose of constructing the book was to develop puzzles and visual art to help students through their first phase of learning and familiarization. A variety of math puzzles are used to introduce common equations for K-12 students. In addition, a set of characters ranging from Alejandra the algae to Wally the whale, are used to introduce different scientific concepts in the ocean, which range from climate change to nutrient loading. 21'
