SIFE Captures 16th Regional Championship

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) captured its 16th consecutive regional championship on Tuesday, April 6, at the annual competition in Atlanta.

During its 24-minute showcase, the presenting team shared highlights and accomplishments from the 42 projects and more than 9,000 service-learning hours completed by SIFE during the past year. The local team claimed at total of $2,500 in prize money.

In addition to being named a regional champion, VSU SIFE was named as finalist in both the 2010 Success Skills Topic Competition for its Building a Better Tomorrow program as well as the 2010 Entrepreneurship Topic Competition for the VSU SIFE Goes Global Program in Guatemala with Hotel Gringo Perdido.

The presenting team, which includes Yun Jin Jang, Cameron Hoopes, Nikki Mitchell, Andre Carmack, Leslie Frye and Lauren Davis, will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., May 11-13, to compete for the national championship.
