VSU Appoints New Director of International Programs

Valdosta State University's search for a Director of International Programs has ended and Dr. Ivan Nikolov has been selected to fill the position effective, August 2005. Nikolov, who currently works in an executive position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will be in charge of overseeing all VSU international exchange students and faculty, partnerships with international institutions abroad, the European Council, and many other international programs.

"Dr. Nikolov is a highly qualified professional in the area of international studies. He comes to VSU following an extensive international search. President Zaccari and all of us in Academic Affairs are most pleased to welcome Dr. Nikolov to our campus," Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Louis Levy said.

Nikolov has an extensive work history at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and the University of California Berkeley. Nikolov received his Ph.D. in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a Ph.D. in Economics from St. Petersburg University for Finance and Economics in Russia. He received his M.S. in Instructional Development and Design from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a Master of Economics in Management from the Academy of Commerce, College of Finance and Statistics in Warsaw, Poland. Nikolov is originally from Bulgaria.

Nikolov will be replacing Dr. C. Tracy Harrington who has retired.
