In 2016, Denaux traveled with students through various cities in Germany and Prague. Langdale College business students experienced a 20-day adventure, exploring and learning about their temporary home and benefitting from educational day trips to the Global Munich Research Center, Mercedes, Proton Therapy Center, SC Johnson and GE. in Cadiz, Spain In addition to LCOBA’s study-abroad program to Germany, 13 business students participated in the study abroad program to Cadiz, Spain over the summer. This program has provided an educational opportunity to business students for several years but in 2016, VSU students were able to take International Economics (ECON 3600) in addition to language development courses. All 13 students lived with host families, which deepened their cultural experience and improved the students’ use of the Spanish language. Most of the students worked on their certificate for Spanish Professionals and took advantage of Spanish internships during their stay in Cadiz. By the end of the study abroad program, participating students moved one step closer to completing their business degree while enhancing their Spanish skills and gaining business experiences that will ultimately improve their job prospects upon graduation. 2016-17 STUDY-ABROAD DESTINATIONS “Business in Germany,” leaving May 10 and returning June 6, is a 26-day program during which students will visit world class companies and explore the culture in Germany. The program will travel to the Bavarian capital of Munich, Karlsruhe, in the Rhine plain; Nurember in Bavaria; and the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague. In addition to visiting businesses and historical landmarks, LCOBA students will take business classes to increase their understanding of the importance of international business practices. “International Business in Croatia” is part of the Langdale College of Business’s rotating study abroad program to Europe. Located in Southeast Europe, Croatia is at the crossroads to the Mediterranean, Central Europe and the Balkans. Students will stay in a centrally-located hostel and utilize the facilities of Zagreb School of Economics and Management, the first AACSB accredited business school in Zagreb, Croatia. In addition to experiencing Zagreb, LCOBA students will explore Dubrovnik, known as “Pearl of the Adriatic.” This study abroad program will encourage business students to supplement what they are learning at LCOBA with visits to multinational companies. LCOBA students will enhance global consciousness and cross cultural perspective through experiences that promote greater understanding of international business and cultural practices. A hybrid study-abroad program in China will offer LCOBA students an opportunity to take courses at the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business. Upon completion of these courses, students will travel China, with a focus on Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.
