VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University will celebrate the work of 14 graduating Department of Art and Design students when it presents “Studio 18” in the Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery April 15-30. Admission to the gallery is free of charge and open to the public.
An opening reception for “Studio 18,” the 2018 Spring Senior Exhibition, will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their works, while enjoying live musical entertainment by the VSU Student Jazz Combo and a few refreshments.
“Studio 18” features drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, mixed media, ceramic, sculpture, and jewelry metalworking works created Cayla Burroughs, Daisy Daniel, Aubree Denton, Zachary Di Zillo, Logan Dotson, Kyndol Ennis, Colin Entz, Marlene Gray, Evan Gunn, Nikki Haggard, Maria Jaime, Selena Mondragon, Spencer Robinson, and Mary VanLandingham. All of the students are art majors who anticipate graduating with either a Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Arts in May.
“… we represent our generation’s commitment to creation and innovation,” shared event organizers. “As young makers in the art world, we have spent our time throughout college sketching ideas, molding our visions into physical forms, and sharing and presenting our work.”
The Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery is located on the first floor of VSU’s Fine Arts Building, at the intersection of Oak Street and Brookwood Drive. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.
