b'Analysis of QSAR Data for 160 Antibiotics:Kinase Inhibitor and PolarityChristopher G. TelusmaSponsor: Dr. ManningFor years on end the human race suffered at the hands of disease and were plagued with death throughout societies everywhere. The discovery of penicillin in 1928 and the introduction of it in the early 1940s revolutionized the fight against disease and brought society, antibiotics. Here a thorough investigation of 160 antibiotics were done gathering QSAR data in order to classify and rank their biological/physical properties. Specifically, the kinase inhibition and logP of these antibiotics were gathered and compared through computational methods. These values respectively tell the activity and polarity of a given compound. It is important to have a general idea of truly how active an antibiotic is in vivo and will it prove to be effective. While at the same time it is important for an antibiotic to be classified as polar or nonpolar as it has to be travel and be absorbed in our body in specific regions. Drugs classified as polar are water soluble and cant absorb in the biological membrane while nonpolar drugs are lipid soluble.A QSAR Study of Six Drugs:Bocprevir, Ibacitabine, Imiquimod, Stavudine, Trifluridine and Boceprevir; Using Peptide Bonds Sequence on Spike Protein of CoronavirusChristopher G. TelusmaSponsor: Dr. ManningThe Covid-19 Pandemic has been a very serious and majorly impactful event in the world spanning for almost two years now. Many studies and tests have been conducted since its arrival to the forefront of everyday lives. Impacts this virus has on the world vary from socially to economically. Here, computational trials have been run whereas a select few antivirals have been selected and certain physical and biological properties have been gathered for each antiviral. Glutamine- Cysteine amino acid pairs off of the 7BBH spike protein complex on a coronavirus particle were researched and through Spartan software an antiviral- amino acid linkage was created. New physical/biological properties have been gathered based on these linkages. Most importantly the Kinase Inhibitor value which determined activity and the logP value which determined polarity were concentrated on.Inhalation Method for Treatment of Lung CancerTaylor M. Macera and Teighlor LivingstonSponsor: Dr. ManningLung cancer is the leading cancer-causing death in the United States. It has an 80% mortality rate. It is the second most diagnosed cancer in men and women in the United States. Paclitaxel is a chemotherapy drug that is used to treat lung cancer. It is currently one of the most widely used chemotherapy drugs. The primary goal for this study is to identify innovative ways to treat lung cancer. In this lab, a vaporization method is used to reduce resistance and increase efficacy. Solvents were used with a vaporizer to produce nanodroplets that would be used to treat lung cancer deep within lung tissue. Inhalation of nanodroplets into the lung allows for direct contact with lung cancer. Ethanol and an ethanol/PG/GLY are tested separately as potential carriers for the cancer drugs. Taxol is used, as it is a well-known cancer drug that is already on the market. This method provides an innovative and effective method for treating lung cancer.19'
