VSU Closed Due to Power Outages on Campus

Due to power outages on Main Campus, Valdosta State University is closed as of 4 p.m. today. University officials anticipate returning to normal operations at 8 a.m. Friday.

All classes that meet after 4 p.m. today are canceled. Classes will resume Friday.

All activities scheduled after 4 p.m. today, including the basketball game and the planetarium show, are canceled. Rescheduled dates will be announced soon. 

All offices are closed. This includes the Odum Library, the Student Recreation Center, the Student Union, the Student Health Center, and the VSU Bookstore.

Residence halls remain open and staffed. Palms Dining will open for grab-and-go service till 6 p.m.

The VSU Shuttle Bus Service will continue to run till 6 p.m. to ensure all students are transported safely back to residence halls. This includes the Valdosta Mall route.   

Supervisors will notify any essential personnel required to report to work during the closure period.

Updates will be posted on Facebook (@ValdostaState and @VStateNews) and Twitter (@ValdostaState and @VStateNews), shared with area news media, and sent directly to students, faculty, and staff through the Campus Alert System via text message, voice call, and email.
