The Process

A new vision and Strategic Plan has been developed for Valdosta State University. The process began in early 2017 when members of the Blazer family came forward to inform Dr. Richard A. Carvajal, president of Valdosta State University, that the University lacked a common vision for the direction in which it should be heading. After gathering feedback from Blazers both on and off campus, a large representative group of students, faculty, and staff came together in September to craft and, ultimately adopt, a new Vision Statement which proudly announces that VSU will be a catalyst for regional comprehensive progress.

The University then began working on a new Strategic Plan that would guide VSU in living up to its new vision. Utilizing your feedback and suggestions, the University Council and the President’s Cabinet have worked together to create Strategic Plan 2022. Thank you for all of the work you’ve done to support the University’s crucial visioning and planning efforts.

Valdosta State University looks forward to working with you in 2018 as it continues to make South Georgia’s flagship institution all that it can be.
