Velma Miles is a retired school social worker who spends a great deal of her time connecting people to resources throughout the community. After years as a middle school teacher, she is devoted to addressing the cultural trends of youth in the community. Velma worked to develop a Parent University for the local school systems. As a community developer with Project Change, Velma had a personal and hands on experience of working with the local government, school systems, and businesses in the community. Velma teaches classess on race, class, gender, and sexuality. Her focus is to bring attention to inequalities and misconceptions associated with specific groups. During her free time Velma enjoys volunteering, fishing, gardening, and meeting new people.
