Advising Area: Criminal Justice

Nicholas Cannady joined the CHSS Advising Center as an Academic Advisor in 2019. He advises undergraduate students in VSU’s Criminal Justice program. Prior to joining the advising team, Nicholas earned his Masters of Science degree in Sociology in 2019. Nicholas also earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology at Valdosta State in 2016. Nicholas served as a Research Graduate Assistant for the Criminal Justice Department. He served as Historian for both Alpha Kappa Delta National Sociology Honor Society—Zeta of Georgia and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America—Zeta Gamma Chapter. Nicholas is currently working towards a Masters of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

Nicholas has been described as a selfless individual. He is known for going above and beyond for others. He as an advisor has a passion for student success. Nicholas has an interest in music and earned a Minor in Music during his undergraduate studies. Nicholas plays French Horn, Trumpet and Euphonium and has participated in the VSU “Blazin’ Brigade” Marching Band, VSU Basketball Pep Band, VSU New Jazz Ensemble, VSU Wind Ensemble, VSU Concert Band, VSU Trumpet Ensemble, VSU Horn Ensemble, and VSU Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble. Nicholas writes music as well, most notably “Blazer Fanfare”, which is a new tradition that the fanfare is played by the Blazin’ Brigade every pregame. He is a committee member for the Lavan and Janet Robinson Memorial Scholarship.
