Lorna Alvarez-Rivera’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that education should empower students to connect theory with the real world. I view the classroom as a collaborative learning space where students are encouraged to question, apply, and engage with ideas. I strive to create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and heard. My primary goal as an educator is not only to teach content but to cultivate critical thinking, empathy, and problem-solving skills that students can carry beyond the classroom.
I center my teaching around student engagement. I believe that students learn best when they see the relevance of course material in their own experiences and future careers. To achieve this, I incorporate assignments and discussions that draw connections between academic concepts and everyday issues.
