Jason Brown is an Associate Professor of Mass Media at Valdosta State University and the festival director of the South Georgia Film Festival. His film THEM THAT WORK was recently included on Criterion’s release of John Sayles’ film MATEWAN along with being broadcast statewide on West Virginia PBS. He produced the short film MIRACLE BOY which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and screened nationwide on the Comcast Film Festival Collective channel. He was chosen to participate in the Television Academy’s Faculty Seminar program in Hollywood, CA as well as the NATPE Faculty Fellowship in Miami, FL. He is currently adapting a book for the screen and working on an experimental film project.

He teaches classes in producing, writing, and production. Previously, he has taken students to participate in the Macon Film Festival and produce content that airs on VSU-TV. He actively engages with Mass Media alumni to help further their careers and connect them with current students.

Jason serves as the faculty advisor to the South Georgia Film Festival’s student organization. He volunteers to screen and judge films at festivals across the country. He is currently a Board Member for the West Virginia Filmmakers Festival.
