Mr. Mike Beverly, MBA, CPA
Director of CBER and Management Lecturer
CBER's Director Mike Beverly received both his BBA and MBA from Valdosta State University in 1974 and 1976, respectively. His undergraduate major was Accounting, while his graduate major was Finance. Upon completing undergraduate studies, he went to work for The Langdale Company in Valdosta, Ga. He progressed thru the Internal Audit, Controller-Subsidiaries, and Vice-President-Subsidiaries functions during his eighteen year tenure. Job duties included oversight of the annual budget preparation process, monthly financial statement reviews, annual audits of all subsidiary companies, and direct management oversight of some of the subsidiary companies. Mr. Beverly oversaw the development of ten wholly owned subsidiaries from the conception stage to the implementation and operational phases of their lives. New companies ranged in size from twenty employees to over two hundred personnel. During his time with The Langdale Company, he also passed the uniform certified public accountant exam and became licensed as a CPA in Georgia. It was also during this time that he began Adjunct teaching with Valdosta State University. He primarily taught Principals of Accounting courses at night over a thirty year time span for VSU. Mr. Beverly also spent twelve years as the Practice Administrator for a Valdosta medical practice. Besides day to day personnel and operational management oversight, he developed the marketing function and helped the practice expand into horizontally related areas. For the immediate prior eight years, Mr. Beverly has served as the Finance Director for The City of Adel. His role with the City included monthly financial statement review and the coordination / preparation of both the annual budget process and the annual audit. He has also prepared Community Development Block Grants and Employment Incentive Program applications resulting in federal / state funding of $1.5 million for new infrastructure and job creation for a new business locating in Lowndes County.
