Elizabeth Hughes’s teaching philosophy centers on creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that meets students where they are and addresses sensitive topics through a trauma-informed approach. Her instructional methods combine both online and in-person strategies designed to promote active participation, community building, and collaboration.

Her areas of interest include: • Trauma-informed criminal justice education • Correctional policy and reform • Research methods and data analysis in criminal justice She is committed to preparing future criminal justice professionals to engage thoughtfully with complex social issues, applying evidence-based practices to improve justice outcomes.
