Leadership Roles:
SACSCOC Quality Enhancement Plan Coordintator for Experiential Learning

Chair, the Blazer Summer Research Institute
Co-Editor in Chief, The Social Science Journal

Teaching Fields: I regularly teach Research Methods (graduate/undergraduate), Sociological Practice (graduate), Sociology of the Family (graduate/undergraduate), Applied Sociology (undergraduate), and Sociology of Gender (undergraduate). I have recently taught special topics on Globalization and the Sociology of Childhood.

Research and Role: As QEP Coordinator for Experiential Learning, I chair the university Experiential Learning Advisory Committee and serve as an advocate for students, faculty, and staff and the vitality of VSU's experiential learning programs and initiatives. I received certification from the Society for Experiential Education in 2025 and my Ph.D. in Sociology in 2011 from The Ohio State University. My research takes two streams: scholarship of teaching and learning work that examines best practices in experiential learning and sociological research that focuses on the social-structural factors that shape individual attitudes and behaviors. Much of my research looks at differences in attitudes cross-nationally and the country-level factors that shape these differences.
