Weather Alert: Hard Freeze Warning Lowndes County

Weather Alert from Lowndes County Emergency Management.

The NWS has issued a hard freeze warning for Lowndes County beginning at 11PM tonight (Nov. 18) and lasting until 9AM tomorrow (Nov. 19) morning.

This warning is being issued due to forecasted low temperatures of 22 degrees with wind chills of 20 degrees throughout the nighttime and early morning hours.

During periods of hard freezing such as this residents are urged to take appropriate measures to protect any exposed pipes, outdoor plants, and bring pets inside or make sure they have adequate warm shelter.

Anyone who lacks adequate resources to stay warm can take advantage of shelters available through LAMP, the Salvation Army and Mission Point Church on the corner of Ashley St and Hill Ave.
