Blazer Overnight Experience Orientation Session

The Blazer Overnight Experience offers students a unique opportunity to meet new friends and future classmates, get a taste of college life, and stay overnight in a residence hall. Overnight sessions and activities provide students an experience to make social connections, get to know the Orientation Leaders and staff members as you are guided through your overnight experience and acclimation to Valdosta State. Overnight sessions also offer the opportunity to learn about life at VSU by learning about campus traditions and resources available to you.

Schedule Overview

Day 1

8:30 AM - 11:30 AM Check-in (University Center, entrance #1). 
Arrive early for time with Financial Aid.
Move into Housing.
12:30 PM - 6:30 PM Programs and education sessions for students and parents.
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Dinner
7:30 PM - 11:30 PM Activities for students.
Stay in the Residence Hall (optional but encouraged)

Day 2

7:30 AM - 8:15 AM Breakfast at Palms Dining Hall.
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM Check-in (Student Union)
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM Programs and education sessions for students and parents

Orientation Housing Option - Hopper Hall (main campus)

Options include selection of:

  1. Night before the selected session
  2. Night of the selected session
  3. Night after selected session
  4. Three guest limit per student

Students and guests are charged a $30 fee, per person per night. This fee is not included in the orientation fee.

Items to pack:

  • Pillow
  • Clothes
  • Personal toiletries

Items provided:

  • In-suite restroom and shower
  • High-speed wireless internet
  • Guest lounges with cable television
  • Towels and linens are included for twin extra-long beds
