Minor in Addiction Studies

  • Total Credit Hours: 18
  • Degree Format: Traditional

The Minor in Addiction Studies provides the academic requirements that go toward the certification as an Addictions Counselor in the state of Georgia.  While Valdosta State University will not be able to provide the supervised hours also needed for that certification, the goal is to link up with other providers in Georgia who may take on students after they complete their degree, so they can work toward those hours.  In addition, the curriculum for the minor will prepare students for the National Certification Examination for Addition Counselors (NCAC) exam and eventual certification as Addictions Counselors in the state of Georgia.
