The M.Ed. in Instructional Technology with a P-12 Technology Applications concentration offers engaging and flexible educational experiences designed to fit the busy schedules of working professionals in a variety of instructional and educational-support fields. Aligned to ISTE Coach’s NETS and the GA PSC Instructional Technology standards, completion of the degree and associated GACE exam will prepare you for the GaPSC Service certificate at Level 5 (S-5) in Instructional Technology. Delivered completely online, our program provides practical opportunities to discover how to enhance the learning environment of the students with whom you work.
The P-12 Technology Applications program prepares our students to be technology coaches, coordinators, instructional technologists, or lead teachers with IT knowledge and skills. You will enjoy learning from our quality faculty whose real-world experience and knowledge have been acquired through many years teaching, researching, and working in our field.
Cost and Length of Program
The M.Ed. in Instructional Technology with a P-12 Technology Applications concentration course sequence will allow a person employed full time to complete the course requirements of the program within two years. Based on completing 36 course hours, the cost of the program is *$10,860. We encourage you to compare our cost with any other institution. Important Program Information
- This program is delivered in a fully-online format.
- P-12 concentration only: Prior to recommendation for the M.Ed. degree, the applicant must attempt the GACE Instructional Technology assessment. Prior to recommendation for instructional technology certification, the applicant must pass the GACE Instructional Technology assessment.
The M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program is a fully online program. Federal homeland security guidelines students visas cannot be issued for fully online programs.
Prospective students whose first language is not English and those who completed coursework or degrees outside the U.S., please review the information below for specific information and guidelines.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Exam or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Applicants whose first language is not English (based on country of citizenship) must submit official scores on the TOEFL exam or IELTS exam. International applicants whose first language is not English but who have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. institution may be exempt from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement.
- Evaluation of International Transcripts - Applicants who have completed coursework at an institution outside of the United States must submit a course-by-course evaluation of the coursework. This transcript evaluation must be completed by an international education credentials evaluation service such as Josef Silny, ECE, etc. The transcript evaluation does not replace the transcript requirement. Official transcripts are still required.

- A candidate must complete an application for graduation one semester prior to their expected graduation date.
- A candidate must have a GPA of 3.00 or above on all graduate coursework. No grade below a “C” will be credited toward the degree.
- A candidate in the Instructional Technology - Library Media program will successfully complete a electronic portfolio.
Program Retention, Dismissal, and Readmission
- The maximum time allowed for completion of the master’s degree is seven calendar years. No work completed more than seven years prior to degree completion will be accepted toward the degree, except with special permission from the candidate’s advisor, Dean of the College of Education, and approval from the Dean of the Graduate School.
- No more than 6 semester hours of academic work may be transferred from another institution into a Dewar College of Education graduate program. Transfer credit will be evaluated after admission, by the academic department.
- Candidates receiving two grades or below a “C” (“D”, “F”, “WF”, or “U”) will be dismissed from the program.
- If dismissed from the program a student must not be enrolled for two semesters. Application for readmission may be initiated during the second semester. Readmission is not guaranteed, and prior academic performance and student conduct/disposition in the program will be considered. The academic program reserves the right to place specific conditions and contingencies on any offer of readmission.
