This map is a term-by-term sample course schedule. The milestones listed below each year are designed to keep you on course to graduate in four years. A sample schedule is provided as a general guideline to help you build a schedule each term. Your courses must be selected with your advisor to satisfy all core curriculum and state, lab science, and multicultural requirements. Refer to the Undergraduate Catalog for the most current curriculum.

Milestones: Complete math requirement. Begin planning to participate in a recommended MCL departmental study abroad program in a summer term. ≥2.5 GPA. By the end of year 1, you should have completed the freshman composition sequence (ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102), joined the French and Arabic Clubs, and completed 30 credit hours. An MCL dept. study abroad program is highly recommended for any summer. The Study Abroad Practicum FREN 4970 adds one credit hour to the semester before participating in a study abroad program. From the fall of your 3rd year on, you should consider presentation of a paper or poster regarding research done in 3000 or 4000 level classes for presentation at an undergraduate research symposium, begin completing the ESOL Endorsement or Certificate, and submit your graduation application By the end of year 3, you should have made close contact with your professors in Foreign Language Education and begin to plan for life as a teacher after VSU. In the fall of your final year, you should contact and apply for graduate study or professional school, if required for your career plans, contact professors to write letters of reference for you, continue to consider presentation of a paper or poster regarding research done in 3000 or 4000 level classes for presentation at an undergraduate research symposium. Early in your final semester, you should prepare a professional resume and have completed 120 credit hours by the end of the senior year.
