Bobby Tucker Athletic Training Scholarship
The Bobby Tucker Athletic Training Scholarship was established by the Athletic Training Program in honor of Charles R. “Bobby” Tucker. Bobby served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and Athletic Training Educator at VSU for over 25 years.
Criteria for Application
• Recipient must be admitted to the Athletic Training Education Program in good standing
• Recipient must demonstrate financial need although this factor alone will not determine the award
• Recipient must have completed 15 hours in the major
• Recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA (if the GPA is maintained the award may be renewed for a second year/semester). Students may receive the award more than one time if they continue to meet the criteria set forth in this agreement and resubmit an application.
The application packet must be received no later than October 15 for spring awards and March 15 for fall awards in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, School of Health Science via the secretary. If October/March 15 falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the application should be submitted by the Friday prior to October/March 15.
Write a half-page description of your financial need. Be very specific about your financial need. In addition, print and attach the Award Package by Aid Year printout which can be accessed through Banner by logging in, clicking Student and Financial Aid, clicking Financial Aid, and clicking My Award Information. This report should include AID YEAR of the current academic year.
Write a one-page, double-spaced description of the reasons why you have chosen to become an athletic trainer and discuss your career goals.
