INFORMATION SESSIONS
Are you interested in obtaining a Professional Degree and/or State Certification? Have you thought about working in a helping field? Consider earning your Master of Education Degree in Counselor Education with a focus on either School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling!
Every semester the Counselor Education faculty hosts three information sessions about applying for the Counselor Education program, the two programs of focus, and career opportunities after completing degree requirements. The Fall 2020 sessions will be held virtually using Blackboard Collaborate on January 20th at 12:30 pm, February 11th at 12:30 pm, and March 3rd at 12:30 pm. Please join the sessions by scanning the QR code in the information session announcement above or by following this link.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students planning to attend graduation should make arrangements with the VSU Bookstore for purchase of cap, gown, and hood. The Registrar’s Office should be consulted early in the program (at least one semester before graduation) for procedures and deadlines. A $25 graduation fee must be paid at the Bursary prior to final evaluation. This fee is valid for one year beyond the initial term selected for completing degree requirements. Instructions and application for degree can be found at the Registrar's website.
The maximum time allowed for completion of the M.Ed. degree is seven calendar years. No work completed more than seven years prior to degree completion will be accepted toward the degree, except with special permission from the student’s major professor and the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services and approval from the Dean of the Graduate School. Remember:

Candidates must complete an application for graduation one semester prior to their expected graduation date;

A 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) is required for graduation. No grade below a “C” will be credited toward the degree.

Candidates will successfully pass the Comprehensive Professional Counseling Examination.

Candidates earning an M.Ed. degree in school counseling must take the GACE Content Tests in School Counseling prior to graduation.
