Workforce Education and Development- Workforce Training and Development
The Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in Workforce Education and Development (Workforce Training and Development) is designed for students who are interested in teaching or training in a postsecondary setting. This includes institutions such as technical institutes or colleges, community colleges, private sector industries and corporations, community and social service agencies, and the military.
The focus of the program is on the development and refinement of skills in the areas of instructional planning, delivery, and evaluation. Previous work experiences, related to the students' areas of technical expertise, are a vital component in the overall preparation of graduates to prepare them to serve as instructors in their technical fields. The academic course requirements for the B.S.Ed. in Workforce Education and Development requires the completion of 60 semester hours of core courses at VSU, plus 60 semester hours of major courses.
A unique feature of this degree program is the opportunity for 42 college credits to be awarded for validated work experience in accepted occupational fields. Applications for credit must be approved by the student's advisor and VSU academic administrators prior to the awarding of credits.
This program is offered off-campus utilizing a weekend course delivery format at the Kings Bay Submarine Base in Kingsland, Georgia, Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia, and through the U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Center in Albany, Georgia.
Completion of this program does NOT qualify the student for secondary teacher certification.
