Blazer Marching Academy

The Blazer Marching Academy provides high school marching band members a great educational experience to improve marching technique, performance abilities, and leadership skills. All tracks offer high level instruction from VSU Blazin' Brigade marching band faculty and staff, professional music teachers, and VSU marching band leadership team members.
REGISTRATION AND FEES
Accommodations in air conditioned dorms with wifi supervised by VSU residence hall staff and VSU Music Camp counselors. Roommates may be requested via email. All meals are included (Thursday lunch/dinner, Friday breakfast/lunch/dinner, Saturday breakfast/lunch).
Commuters, with meal ticket: $200
For students traveling to-and-from campus each day during camp. Parking pass included. Meals ticket included for lunch and dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Commuter, no meal ticket: $150
For students traveling to-and-from campus each day during camp. Parking pass included. Meals not included, but available on a meal-by-meal basis (cash or credit card).
The percussion track focuses on marching percussion techniques for a wide range of ability levels. Students will be separated into a various ensembles ranging in different levels of experience from beginning to advanced players. There will also be a front ensemble track where students of varying experience and abilities can learn outdoor techniques as well as basic stroke and approach to the front ensemble.
The guard track focuses on marching percussion techniques for a wide range of ability levels. Students will be separated into a various ensembles ranging in different levels of experience from beginning to advanced guard members.
The marching track focuses on marching and music skills aimed at improving performance and leadership abilities. Our focus is on tangible concepts that students can take to their home bands. Students will experience integrated instruction in the areas marching fundamentals, conducting, musicianship, and leadership skills.
High school band directors are encouraged to attend sessions in all areas and will be provided opportunities to speak with camp clinicians. Registration is free for high school band directors.
