MESA
The Department of Student Diversity & Inclusion is proud to officially recognize MESA as a partner in supporting our Hispanic/Latino Students at VSU. MESA stands for Mentor, Engage, Support, and Achieve. MESA is a group of faculty and staff that have come together to provide activities that mentor, engage, support and promote the academic achievement of Hispanic students through organized collaborative efforts. The purpose of MESA includes:
- Develop activities to promote student engagement amongst themselves, the university and the community at-large.
- Organize group and individual academic assistance programs.
- Inform and provide resources to support Hispanic students personal and economic well-being.
- Increase visibility of contributions Hispanic Students make to the university and community through publications and events.

MESA Scholarship for VSU Hispanic Students
Qualifications:
- Applicant should be a registered VSU Hispanic undergraduate student.
- The student should have a VSU GPA of 3.5 or above.
- The student should have a minimum of 30 earned VSU credit hours by the end of Spring 2020 Semester.
- Student should be registered for Fall 2020 Semester.

- Personal statement should be 450 to 500 words explaining the students:
- Career plan and goals
- How scholarship will be beneficial to academic success
- Achievements and characteristics that distinguish student from peers
- Submit 2 letters of recommendation from faculty/staff with at least one previous instructor. The letter should include how the student has demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement and ability.

Deadline to submit fully completed application is Friday, May 15, 2020.
Applications will be reviewed by MESA Scholarship Committee.
The $300 award will be provided for Fall 2020 semester.
