VSU Hallnet

Welcome to Valdosta State University’s HallNet, VSU’s residential and wireless network.

Use of an active and up-to-date antivirus program is required for each computer connected to the VSU HallNet network.   Also please be aware that VSU enforces it’s computer policies which can be found here.

Update on Antivirus Home-use Software

The Division of Information Technology has carefully researched alternatives to quality antivirus home-use software for VSU faculty, staff and students.  IT continues to stress the importance of having antivirus software on your home computers and is recommending AVG Free Edition. The IT Helpdesk will provide AVG installation assistance for any VSU faculty, staff or student. However, technical support after installation is provided by the software publisher, Grisoft:

IMPORTANT: Before downloading AVG, please make sure all prior antivirus software has been removed. Having multiple antivirus systems can cause conflicts.

AVG should not be downloaded to any VSU-owned computer.

AVG is only a recommendation – other alternatives are available.

If you have any further questions, please contact the IT Helpdesk at (229) 245-HELP (4357).
