How this Process Works

Step 1:  Apply for graduation with the Registrar's office. Click here for the link to do that. The deadline is March 15.

Step 2: Keep a close eye on your valdosta.edu email. On March 16, you will receive an email from Marching Order to register for Commencement. We are using Marching Order to help with the ticketing process. Once you select that you will attend the in person ceremony, you will have five tickets sent to your valdosta.edu email within two weeks from the VSU Ticket Office. The deadline to register with Marching Order is April 26. Here's what the Marching Order page just for Valdosta State University looks like:

Step 3: Order your cap and gown online before April 5th. You can also purchase your cap and gown in person at the VSU Bookstore during Grad Finale on March 24-25.

Step 4: Before Commencement, go back into Marching Orders to print your grad pass and your guest tickets if you haven't already.

Step 5: Keep a close eye on social media and your valdosta.edu email the couple weeks before Commencement. If we're able to allow our graduates to claim more guest tickets, that's how we will let you know.

Step 6: Attend Commencement and celebrate your incredible accomplishment with your friends and family.

Glossary of Terms

Apply for Graduation: This is required before you can graduate and is done through the Registrar's office at VSU. The purpose of this is to double check and make sure all requirements for your degree have been met, allowing you to receive your diploma.

Register in Marching Order: This website allows us to do ticketing during the pandemic. After you apply for graduation with the Registrar's office, you will receive an email from Marching Order to your valdosta.edu email address. It will include the link to register with Marching Order. After you register, you will be able to claim your five guest tickets. You will also have a chance to include a photo of yourself if you like.

Claim Your Tickets: In order to receive the five guest tickets you are allowed as a graduate, you must register in Marching Order. So after you apply for graduation with the Registrar's office, and after you register in Marching Order, it will prompt you to claim your five tickets. After that, our ticketing staff at VSU will assign you a pod of five seats at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium, and you will need to print your tickets out before coming to Commencement.

Grad Finale: Grad Finale is a two day celebration and a one-stop-shop for all your Commencement needs. This year's Grad Finale is taking place on March 24-25 by the VSU Bookstore. You will be able to purchase your cap and gown on site, order your ring, join the 1906 Society, talk with Career Opportunities about a new job, and so much more.
