What is Document Delivery?

If you are a VSU student, faculty, or staff member, you can use ILL - Odum Express for our physical and electronic document delivery service.  You can request books you find in the GIL-FIND@VSU Library Catalog or through the WorldCat GALILEO image , as well as full-text articles other libraries have that Odum Library does not. These items can be sent directly to you via Odum Express, which is our departmental delivery service, or via PDF to your ILL account through electronic document delivery.

How Do I Request Document Delivery Service?

Document Delivery requests are made in ILL - Odum Express.  From the Odum Library website, select the ILL - Odum Express link underneath the left red "Main Menu" column.  First-time users, will be required to register.  When establishing your ILL - Odum Express account, please self-identify your status as faculty or staff.

If you have already established your ILL - Odum Express profile, you can easily change any of the personal information details by selecting the Change User Information button link, when necessary because your status or address has changed.  See the below example steps.

  • Login to ILL - Odum Express using your MyVSU username and password
  • Scroll down to the Review Personal Information section
  • Select the Change User Information button
  • Please make sure your Loan delivery preference is "Hold for Pickup". Do not select "Mail to Address", as Interlibrary Loan does not mail borrowed items to our patrons.
  • Select the "Submit Information" button to change your profile

If you prefer for articles, books and other loans to be delivered to your department's front desk, please fill out and submit the ILL Delivery Form.

How Long Does it take to Receive a Physical Delivery?

Delivery of items may take between 5 to 14 business days, but it will depend on the items requested and where they are coming from. All photocopies of journal articles will be yours to keep. All items need to be taken to the 1st-floor Main Circulation Desk or mailed back to Odum Library by the due date indicated on the band. Do not drop returning ILL items in the outside drop boxes.

How Much Does ILL Requested Items Cost?

Most photocopies and scans of journal articles are supplied at no cost; however, some materials such as dissertations may require a fee. You are also responsible for the postage required to ship books back to Odum Library.

Can I Have GIL Express requested books delivered?

GIL Express and Borrowed Interlibrary Loan items are not shipped to any VSU faculty, staff, or students’ mailing addresses.

We deliver on campus to faculty and staff for requested GIL Express and Interlibrary Loan items. These items may also include placed requests for Odum Library items that can leave the building. If you would like these requested items to be delivered to your department’s front desk, please fill out and submit the ILL Delivery Form.

GIL Express books are requested through the MyGIL account login requiring the VSU ID number, last name, & PIN, quite different from the ILL - Odum Express that requires the BlazeVIEW username and password

Can I Have ERIC Documents Delivered?

ERIC documents can be very lengthy. Odum Library is only able to supply up to 20 pages of an ERIC document. The ERIC (at EBSCOHost) Database provides full-text access to many ERIC Documents from 1993 to the present. You can also visit the ERIC Education Resources Information Center. Both ERIC (at EBSCOHost) and the ERIC Education Resources Information Center databases are available via GALILEO. Please take a moment to review the following tutorial on searching for ERIC resources.
