Due to Covid-19, for Fall 2020, our Front Lab is limited to a capacity of 5 people.
The Front Lab is used by students for a variety of media development projects. Students typically use this area to scan images, OCR scan documents, edit pictures, print color documents, print posters and write papers. See our software list!
The Front Lab contains the following equipment:
13 HP EliteOne 800 All-In-One's make up the front lab area. These computers are packed with power! They run Windows 7 64 bit with hardware like 16 GB of RAM, an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU@ 2.90GHz speed processor, and 60 GB SSD and 500 GB SATA hard drive space. The All-In-Ones bring in more mobility and freedom to be creative since the screens are now touch enabled.
1 Xerox Color Workcentre 7535 MFP; this printer has scanning enabled. Thus, e-mail yourself a document from either the flatbed portion or the feeder at the top. Documents scanned in can be sent as text searchable PDF's.
2 Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 USB 3.0 Document Scanners; this scanner is used to scan documents via its convenient document feeder. This saves time and energy when scanning large documents. Scan up to 25 ppm with 50 sheets per load. It can scan duplex at 600 dpi.
2 Epson GT-15000 - We use this scanner for large-sized scans. The scanbed area is 11.7" x 17".
2 Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanners - This scanner is able to reach a maximum resolution of 12,800 x 12,800 dpi. The maximum scanbed size is 8.5" x 11.7".
HP DesignJet 500: this printer is used by the New Media Center employees to print out posters for presentations, events, and announcements for all VSU patrons– it can print a maximum width of 24” with about a 1-inch bleed and an unlimited length. Standard poster size is 22”X34”.
HP DesignJet 510: this printer is used by the New Media Center employees to print out posters for presentations, events, and announcements for all VSU patrons– it can print a maximum width of 42” with about a 1-inch bleed and an unlimited length. Standard poster size is 36”X48”.
Xerox Color Workcentre 7535 MFP: this printer is used by all VSU patrons. This printer is only available if you have print money or flex money on your One Card. Only organizations and departments may have charges made to this printer outside of using a One Card.
