Policy

Award-winning children’s books are interfiled with the rest of the collection. They can be differentiated by a 586 note in the bibliographic record and an “Award Books” sticker on the item.

Procedure

Follow the normal books copy-cataloging procedure for children’s literature insert link to copy-cataloging. Make sure the bibliographic record in OCLC has a 586 award note for the following Award categories:

  • Caldecott

  • Coretta Scott King

  • Newbery

  • Pura Belpre

  • GA Children’s Book

  • GA Children’s Picture Storybook


The field is structured as below:

When processing, place an “Award Books” sticker on the top left corner of the book cover. Ensure you place the sticker where it will not obscure the title or any other important information.
