Undergraduate Admissions

To get admitted to Valdosta State University at the Undergraduate level, you will need to submit the following:

1. A completed VSU Application and the $ 40 application fee. 

  • Online Application - You will be prompted to pay the $40 application fee at the end of the application using a credit/debit with either a Visa, Discover, or MasterCard logo.

2. Certificate of Finances 

  • All international students are required to show evidence of sufficient funds that will be available for their educational and living expenses at VSU.
  • For students who have applied/applying for the International Student Scholarship: VSU applications and the International Student Scholarship are two separate applications, with different deadlines. If possible, do not wait to submit your Certificate of Finance, so that you can start on your student visa application.
  • Only the Certificate of Finance form from our website will be accepted. Please do not use/submit any third-party Certificate of Finance forms (ex. College Board)

3. One of the following if you are not transferring in from a US College/University:*

  • SAT Score - Minimum combined total score of 900 (Math + Critical Reading) and a minimum score of 430 for Critical Reading and 400 for Math.

  • TOEFL Score  - Minimum scores depend on the test format
    • Internet - Based : minimum of 69
    • Paper- Based : 523
  • IELTS  - Minimum score of 6.0

  • Completion of the VSU English Language Institute's Level 6 with a B average or better

  • Proof of having completed the ESL Language Centers' Level 112

  • Caribbean AICE
    • Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) IGSCE and “O” Level “English” Exams: "D" or better
  • Pearson (PTE) Academic Requirement:53

  • Cambridge English Scale Score (which can be demonstrated in Cambridge English : First (FCE), Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) : 169 (CPE: 180)

4. Official Transcripts 

  • High School Transcripts
    • If you are a current high school student in your final year, you can submit your most recent High School transcript for your application. Once you have completed your final (senior) year of high school (secondary school), you must submit an official copy of your final high school transcript that includes when you received your high school diploma.
    • If your high school transcripts are not in English, please have them translated by one of the professional credential agencies listed on this page.
  • College/ University Transcripts
    • Please have your transcripts evaluated by one of the agencies listed on this page, if you are not transferring from another US High School/College/University.
    • Read VSU's Policy on Transfer Credits.
    • From the Admissions page: "Transfer students with less than 30 transferable semester credit hours or 45 quarter hours of college credit must also submit high school academic records."

5. A completed Certificate of Immunization (Vaccinations) and Medical History Forms

  • These forms can be submitted to the Student Health Center after you have been accepted to VSU.

6. A copy of your passport information page. You can e-mail the copy of your passport to iss@valdosta.edu.

Once you have submitted the materials (#1-4), the Admissions Office will make a decision on your acceptance into the university. You can submit the requirements #5 & #6 after you have been accepted.

  • The university does accept students on a rolling basis. However, the regular admissions' deadlines mentioned, are suggested deadlines to give students enough time to get their documentation and apply for a student visa. 
  • Make sure you have a valid e-mail address on your application, you will be contacted via e-mail if there are any questions regarding your application. If you do not have an e-mail address, you can get a free e-mail address from Google or Outlook.
*If you are on transferring from a US college/university, proof of completion of English 1101/1102 at your current school with at least a grade of 'C' will meet the English proficiency requirements.
