Episode 3: Engaging BlazeVIEW Content with GoConqr

Episode 4: Open Offices in Blackboard Ultra

Episode 5: Intelligent Agents in BlazeVIEW

Episode 1: First name replacement strings and Quizlet

In this episode, we'll look at the first name replacement string {firstname}, which is great for actively engaging students through announcements and modules. We'll also review Quizlet, a free tool for creating flashcards, and practice embedding them into BlazeVIEW so that students can review vocabulary and other important concepts without ever leaving your course!

Episode 2: Bulk Feedback in the Gradebook and Hide/Show Columns

In this episode, we'll practice using gradebook to communicate more than just grades by utlizing the bulk feedback feature. We'll also review a gradebook organizational strategy: hide/show columns. This is a great way to view specific items without the clutter of a full gradebook!

Episode 3: Engaging BlazeVIEW Content with GoConqr

In this episode, I'm coming at you with another Web2.0 tool designed to increase student engagement in your course: GoConqr. In GoConqr, students and instructors can create and share a variety of digital learning materials. You can build mind maps, incorporate media, create slide presentations, make quizzes, flashcards....the world is your online oyster and the tools for engaging students are right at your fingertips! And, as always, this Web2.0 tool plays very nicely with BlazeVIEW!

Episode 4: Open Offices in Blackboard Ultra

Here, we're taking a look at Blackboard Ultra, Blackboard's answer to some of those connective issues students and faculty were having with Blackboard Collaborate. This is a recent addition to BlazeVIEW and can be found under your External Learning Tools in any module! Specifically, today, we'll be reviewing ways to use Blackboard Ultra that are different than the typical synchronous class session. How about....an Open Office?  Cultivate a scholarly environment in your course and encourage peer to peer participation as well as peer to faculty!

Episode 5: Intelligent Agents in BlazeVIEW

Intelligent Agents allow instructors to create specific criteria based on student activity and communicate with students once the criteria has been reached. Once the instructor has created the intelligent agent, it will run based on the parameters set! This means BlazeVIEW will notify students when they have been inactive without the instructor having to do anything extra. This proactive approach can help us to catch students before they slip through the cracks.
