Charles Goodman joined the faculty at Valdosta State University in the fall of 2018 as Limited-Term Lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium. Prior to this appointment he held a similar position at Southeastern Louisiana University. He is also currently finishing a doctorate from the University of Colorado Boulder in tuba performance and pedagogy. He holds a Master of Music from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Music from Western Michigan University. His primary teachers have include Michael Dunn, David Zerkel, Deanna Swoboda, Fritz Kaenzig, and Robert Whaley.
As an orchestral musician, Mr. Goodman has performed with the Colorado Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, Orquesta Filharmonica de Jalisco, the Round Top Festival Orchestra, and the New World Symphony. As part of chamber ensembles, he has competed in numerous chamber music competitions, including placing third in the national level of the MTNA Chamber Music Competition with the UGA Graduate Tuba Quartet. He also spent two summers as a teaching assistant at the Interlochen Arts Camp.
