Traveling
Through Education
by: Whitney
Mengel
My
name is Whitney Mengel. I am a
junior at
Valdosta State University,
pursuing a Bacholar's
degree in Early Childhood
Education. Teaching runs in my
family. My mom , my aunt, my uncle and one of my counsins all
teach. Teaching is a gift, not everyone can be a
teacher. I have this educational gift. It is easy for me to
communicate effectively. To be an effective communicator one must
have experience. Traveling is one of my passions. After
graduation I plan on teaching internationally. Australia
is my
first choice for international teaching.
Not ever being there, I feel like it is where I am supposed to
be. Teaching in a different country
will give me extensive experience that
will help me to be an effective
educator.
Traveling
has always been an
interest my mine. During my sophomore summer at Valdosta State
University, I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. While there,
I traveled to Portugal, Paris and all over Spain. My trip was a
life changing experience for me. I left everything and everyone
behind for five weeks, but it was the best five weeks of my life.
I believe the best thing I did for my trip was to go not knowing
anyone. I learn so much about myself as a human being and as a
woman.
Sometimes
it is hard to get ideas for lesson planning. Crayola
is a great website for children to use. The site has games and fun
activities for children to do, which inhenses children to have a wide variety of drawing
and coloring ideas. Children need to practice writing and reading
skills everyday. Writing,
reading, and learning skills are developed by repetition in the
classroom.
