Rationale

Who was the man who was considered to be the 26th president?

Students should learn as much as possible about their past leaders.  This will enable them to learn more about some of the things that helped in the development of their country.

This is a good website to learn about the life of Theodore Roosevelt though the eyes of a second grade classroom.

This website has questions that is linked to pages that will answer the same questions.

This website connects the name Theodore Roosevelt to the name Teddy and the teddy bear.

Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States of America.  This was just a part of who Theodore Roosevelt was.  To get to know Theodore Roosevelt better, click on this website to learn more about Roosevelt.

Did your know that Theodore Roosevelt helped to save the game of football?  Click on the Theodore Roosevelt Association web site to learn why football may not exist today and how Theodore Roosevelt help to save the game.

President  Theodore Roosevelt was well known for his environmental conservation. 

The Theodore Roosevelt National Park website has many links to all the activities of the Theodore Rosevelt National Park.  These activities include a camping guide and wildlife viewing.

The Edhelper web site offers many fascinating facts about Theodore Roosevelt's life.

Students will go to a website and look at questions about Theodore Roosevelt and then answer the question.

Standard: Acquires information through reading, observing and listening.

Procedures 

1. Divide students into groups of 4 or 5.

2.  Send the students to the computers in their groups.

3.  Have each group go to the website (http://www.iowa-city.k12.ia.us/Schools/Roosevelt/rooseveltpages/questionpage.html)
     Prior to the students going to this site, make a copy of the questions from this site and give a copy to each student.

4.  Have the students click on each question on the website and have them to answer the questions.  These questions are the           same as the list of questions they have already received.

Assessment will be performed by using the questions completed by each group.

This program has 15 games suitable for Kindergarten through elementary and as a review for higher grades.

Evaluate the software. Anything you want to find for elementary grades are there. This game offers multiple players and different levels for each student. Is it user-friendly?

What is the purpose of this software?  To check the students comprehension of a story that was read to them or on their own.  After reading the story, the students take a test online where they are asked questions about the book.

Evaluate the software.  This was a very good asset for teachers and students.  Students are able to do some of it by themselves.  Software is very useful for teachers.

What is the purpose of this software?  Children can discover letters, rhyming, sounds, songs, and shapes.  Sesame Street characters guide you through the software where you can play interactive games, review letters and shapes, and watch videos. 


Evaluate the software.  I think this software is great.  It is easy to use and has a variety of options for the kids.  It  is exactly what a teacher and a parent wants, Software that is fun and educational!
