Real World Activity: Today you are going to pretend that you are a zoo keeper. You have 4 giraffes, 3 elephants, and 3 aligators. As the zoo keeper you have to draw your animals and count how many you have. To review how to count objects play How Many.
Lesson 1 Directions:
1. With a pencil draw 4 giraffes, 3 elephants, and 3 aligators.
2. Now use your crayons to color the animals.
Activity:
1. Draw the animals in order. (Ex. Giraffes are first, Elephants are second, etc)
2. Label each animal with a 1, 2, 3,..., so you can count how many animals there are.
3. If you need help sing the Counting Song again.

Lesson 2 Directions:
1. Using a marker draw pictures of each animal on construction paper.
2. Now cut your animals out and lay them on your table.
Activity:
1. Draw the animals in order. (Ex. Giraffes are first, Elephants are second, etc)
2. Label each animal with a 1, 2, 3,..., so you can count how many animals there are.
3. If you need help play How Many again.



GPS Standard: MKN1. Students will connect numerals to the quantities they represent.
                       A. Count a number of objects up to 30.
PLO: Students will count objects up to 30.
