Hello, and welcome to my celebration for education. My
name is Tammy Jones and I was
born and raised in Fitzgerald Georgia. I'm a 1998 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and a 2006
fall graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton Georgia. I'm currently a junior
at Valdosta State University, and I am pursing my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood
Education. I plan to teach in an elementary school setting in the near future, and I hope to
teach second or third grade students.
When I was growing up as a young child, I always had a desire to teach children, and I would
write on by bedroom walls with Crayola chalk while pretending to have my own class. I had to make
sure I washed the walls down really good before my dad came home from work. Eventually he found
out I had been writing on the walls so he got me a chalkboard. I remember my second grade teacher
use to always go to her desk and sip on her coke which always sat on the corner of her desk. Of course
I had a coke too while I was playing teacher. It's quite funny to me now as I watch my niece, who is in
the third grade, always trying to lure my six year old daughter into her bedroom to be her student. All I
can sometimes hear is my little girl saying "no Ashley I don't wanna play today" and of course Ashley
goes in her room alone and teach her imaginary students like I use to do.
I have one daughter, who is in the first grade, and I love her dearly. I enjoy spending
time with my two sisters, Michelle and Stephanie, and I love to shop at Dillard's. In my
spare time, I like rearranging my home and decorating it with home interiors. I think I'm a
pretty good cook, but sometimes I get tired of eating my own cooking, so therefore, I eat
at my sister's house just as much as I eat at home.
