Valdosta State UniversityHi! My name is Staci Renee Brown and I am a college sophomore at Valdosta State University. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Jacksonville, Arkansas. I have two brothers, three sisters, and a puppy named Bruiser. My step-father is retired military. I lived in Germany for four years and graduated from high school in the Netherlands. I am engaged to my high school sweetheart, Rich Wilson. I moved to Texas to live with my grandmother were I attended Tarrant County Community College. I decided to attend Valdosta State University because I was ready for a change. I am thinking about two different majors; Early Childhood Education and Real Estate
The Freshman Year Experience ProgramVSU’s Freshman Year Experience is designed primarily for students who have not yet decided on a major. The Freshman Seminar is a two-semester course that students take. All sections of the freshman seminar are taught using the same outline and textbook. The course includes topics such as time management, study skills, academic planning, and test taking strategies. Students in FYE will also learn how to use the internet to better their school work efforts. I am very pleased that VSU offered a class to beginning freshman to help them gain perspective on college life. I really enjoyed the FYE classes because the skills that I learned will go with me throughout my college years.
