Some recessive traits in humans are: blue eyes, straight hair, no dimples when you smile, no freckles, attached earlobes. A recessive gene is weak and shows up less often. Even though you get half of your genes from your mother and half from your father. If a parent gives you the dominant gene, it will show. Dominant genes are represented by a capital letter and recessive genes by a lowercase letter.


Look for these recessive traits in your family and write down each family member and the trait or traits they carry!
