| Software Review |
Title of Software program: Social Studies: U.S. History - 1900 to Present Published by: Qwizdom Learning Enhancement: This software covers a wide range of topics but includes information about the Cold War and the time period. My students would use this software to research questions and gain additional information. Software Evaluation: The software is good but expensive. An additional program is required to run this software. In the long run, it would be a great assest to the classroom. |
Title of Software program: Microsoft Word Published by: Microsoft Learning Enhancement: This is another outstanding program and easy to use. My students would use this program to write any paper or journal entry. It can also be used with graphics and an almost unlimited font sytles. Software Evaluation: The best program since WordStar! This is the standard for all word processing software. |
| Title
of Software program: Decisions
Decisions 5: The Cold War Published by: Tom Snyder Learning Enhancement: This software is a role based interactive program that allows students to make decisions based on a set of events and carry those decisions to the next logical outcome. I would use this software to let my students sit in the "hot seat" and make the decisions that could effect millions of lives. They will gain a wealth of knowledge as they role play. Software Evaluation: The only downfall to this software is the price. It is over $250 for a proper setup. |
Title of Software program: Microsoft Paint Published by: Microsoft Learning Enhancement: This software is an outstanding tool to help students express their creativity and helps them show their product to others. It is also easy to use for students of any age. Software Evaluation: The software is outstanding. The only problems arise when expanding pictures. They can become blurred or pixelated. |
Title of Software program: Inside the Cold War Published by: Porchlight Entertainment Learning Enhancement: This software program helps students see and hear the sights and sounds of the Cold War Era. There are student and teacher related activities and lessons. Software Evaluation: I could not find any real problems with this software other than the fact that it takes a lot of computer memory to run. |
